Tea Plucking and Black Tea Processing Masterclass - U.K. Tea Academy certified

2 Day course 


This is a hands-on  unique  opportunity to learn how tea  is  plucked and processed  into  black  tea.


Licensed  U.K.  Tea  Academy  Tutor  Beverly Wainwright  has worked with tea since 2011 when she managed  Amba  Estate  in  Sri  Lanka,    set  up  a  small-scale  tea  factory  and  developed world renowned teas. Recent  projects  include  the  development  of  Mogok Tea in Myanmar and advising  Tea Gardens of Scotland.


WHO  IS  THIS  COURSE  FOR?

Aimed at anyone with an interest and passion for tea, this course is ideal for  tea enthusiasts and tea businesses.  


WHAT IS INCLUDED?

The course includes all tuition and course materials, 2 days learning with Beverly  Wainwright, tea tastings, the opportunity to pluck and process green  leaf  Into  black  tea, a certificate from The UK Tea Academy  (on  succesful  completion  of  a  test).  Light  lunch on the  first  day.       


WHAT  YOU  WILL  LEARN

Day 1:

• Introduction to tea growing• Walking tour around a  tea  garden  • The basics of tea plucking• Plucking demonstration and tea plucking• Taste locally  grown  and  made tea• Introduction to processing as tea begins its withering process.

Day 2:

• A step by step guide to the processing of black tea• Demonstration of tea rolling and the opportunity to roll your own tea• You will learn about withering, oxidation and drying• All processing techniques will be hands on in the factory • Tasting and critically assessing the tea produced• Optional short test at the end of the day, successful participants will receive a certificate in the Basics of Black Tea production from the UK Tea Academy.

Green Tea Processing Workshop

Want to know how green tea is produced?  This  is  a  practical  workshop  where  you  will  make  green  tea  and  learn  different   methods  of  green  tea  making.  


Licensed  U.K.  Tea  Academy  Tutor  Beverly Wainwright   specialises  in  small  scale  tea  making  world  wide  and  will be leading the course and providing all tuition.  


Beverly has worked with tea since 2011.  Recent  projects  involving  green  tea  production  include  Gammaduwa  Estate,  Sri  Lanka,  Mogok Tea in Myanmar and Tea Gardens of Scotland.

TEA MAKING IN WALES

Both  courses  are  also  being  run  at  Peterston  Tea  Estate  in  Wales  this  year.  The  estate  is  owned and  run  by  Lucy  George  and  produced  its  first  tea  in  2019.  Your  tutor  will  be  Beverly  Wainwright  and  Lucy  will  be  on  hand  to  take  you  on  a  tour  of  the  estate  and  answer questions  about  her  own  tea  growing  experiences.

BOOKING TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The Scottish Tea Factory reserves the right to cancel courses at any time.  A full refund of the course fee or   if  possible  an option to take the course  on  an  alternative  date.

Refund Policy: Up to 2 weeks prior to the course – full refund of the course fee less a 5% booking fee.  Less than 2 weeks prior to the booked course 50% refund of the course fee.  Within 7 days of the course start date or for any non-attendance, we are unable to offer any refund.  

We strongly advise you not to book transport, food, accommodation or other expenses until you have received a confirmation email from The Scottish Tea Factory confirming that a sufficient number of bookings have been made.  The Scottish Tea Factory will not at any time be liable to compensate for any loss of earnings or expenditure incurred by the course attendee.
